This demonstration uses multiple intelligences to write a childhood memory (in the form of George Ella Lyons' I Am From poem) and construct a three dimensional artifact which serves as a metaphor for the memory. The activity helps to build community also.

You Talkin' to Me? You Talkin' to Me? You Talkin' to Me?: Developing Audience Awareness in Student Writers

This demonstration helps teachers develop a working definition of audience awareness and gain knowledge of critical theory on the subject. Teachers compose writings with a specific audience in mind. Finally, teachers analyze their compositions for level of audience awareness based on critical questions. The demonstration includes large group discussions, peer writing and sharing.

Making Workshops Work: Teacher-Facilitated Small Group Workshops

This demo discusses the elements of good feedback and presents two linked strategies for fostering generative peer responses from students: workshop letters and teacher-facilitated small group workshops.æ The demo includes an interactive readers' theatre of student and scholarly perspectives on peer review, as well as an opportunity for participants to write workshop letters for each other and try teacher and student roles in small group workshops.æ
