Everybody Has a Story to Tell: The telling of childhood stories through the inspirational process of mapping, writing, sharing, reshaping and celebrating.

Focuses on personal writing, first drawing maps of a neighborhood from their childhood or their past, then discussing, marking, sharing, writing, and reshaping instances that happened within their maps. The final result is a blown up/slowed down and reshaped Hot Spot from one of their stories.

Revision: Fun not Torture

A concrete model of revision is shown by using clay figures. Participants will be asked to make a figure and add or subtract from the figure. Next the figure will be changed to a different figure using the same clay. Participants will be asked to write about their experience, share the writing with a partner, and then change that prose to a poem and share this kind of revision. They will discuss the process of working in both mediums and look for similarities.
