for graduate studentscourses in writing educationThe Southern Arizona Writing Project offers graduate students in both education and English the opportunity to explore teaching methods in primary, secondary, and post-secondary education. The value for education majors is a hands-on opportunity to develop and experience writing curriculum across grade and content areas. Programs of particular interest: The *Invitational Summer Institute* is an intensive five-week program which offers teachers a chance to reinforce and fine tune good teaching of writing, to develop and try new approaches, and to experience professional renewal. *Saturday Programs* provide both structured and unstructured opportunities for teachers to write and hone their craft. *Advanced institutes* are topic-driven and designed to help teachers develop expertise in a particular area. These include: Critical Friends, National Board Certification, the Teacher Research and Inquiry Institute, Teachers as Writers, and Open Enrollment Institutes (patterned on the Invitational Summer Institute).
