This presentation focuses on putting the fun into functional writing. Participants use their background knowledge, preferences, and personal history to complete activities that are engaging for all types of learners. They will work individually and collaboratively to create charts, conduct interviews, and do other activities that can be revised or transformed into functional pieces. This presentation was created with the secondary educator in mind but its contents can be manipulated in order to be appropriately used at any educational level.
