Engaging Reluctant Students through Genre Choice

Quick writing of student work with sharing begins the lesson. This is followed by accessing prior knowledge with essential math vocabulary. After a math lesson with modeling, guided practice, and individual practice; students are assessed by choosing genre to metacognitively write about what they learned. Reflecting and sharing finish the lesson.
